earned the advanced designation, Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), and who specialize in the treatment & rehabilitation
of the upper extremity.

surgeons and allied health professionals. The Academy also serves as an advocate for improved patient care and informs
the public about the science of orthopaedics.

Helping Hands Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit support group made up of parents who have children with upper limb
differences and who are concerned with the challenges facing the child and the entire family.
Hand Rehabilitation Section of the American Physical Therapy Association
The Hand Rehabilitation Section of the APTA promotes rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremity within the profession of
physical therapy, the medical community, and the general public. The Section serves to mentor, educate, promote research, and
respond to the ever changing needs and interests of its membership.

The Hand Rehabilitation Foundation, established in 1975, is a non-profit corporation formed to promote research and education, and
disseminate information to physicians and therapists who work with children and adults with hand disorders caused by injury, disease,
or present at birth.
International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy
The International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (IFSHT) was formed as a result of the participation of hand therapists in
the First Congress of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH) in the Netherlands in 1980.
